What to Post when you Don’t Have Anything to Say

What to Post

We all have those days. You know the ones…when you should post something on your blog to keep it current, but you can’t think of anything to post. What’s more: the more that you think about it, the less likely you are to come up with anything. What should you do? Abandon the blog and come back tomorrow? Well, that’s one approach, but we all know that a well-maintained blog is more likely to keep readers and more likely to make you money. Consider these ideas if you just can’t think of anything to say:

Link to another post. We all read dozens of blogs a day. (Or, at least you should be reading a lot of blogs if you want to stay current about what’s happening in your topic.) Consider linking to a post that you think makes a good point. Don’t steal the post. Just offer your opinion about it and provide a link. Voila! instant post.

Link to a YouTube video. YouTube has millions of videos, everything from how to grip your golf club to a winery tour. It’s highly unlikely you can find something appropriate for your topic. YouTube gives you the code. Just write a short introduction and you have your post.

Enlist a guest writer. Do you have friends that write about your topic? Offer to write a future post for them in exchange for a post on your blog. This also has the advantage of giving your blog an added point of view.

Recycle a blog. You don’t want to do this with a recent post, but take a look at those posts from this time last year. Many are still applicable with just a little updating. Plus, it’s a rare reader that will remember the post from 12 months ago.
