SEM: Search Engine Marketing

Now days many people are making use of the Internet for the online purpose because of which they make use of the various Search Engines to collect Information.

SEM - Search Engine Optimization

The Search Engines are becoming very powerful tools for On-line Marketing since they can have a major effect on the online traffic & sales of the Websites.

To bring the Website on the top search results of the various Search Engines on the desired Keywords or Search Phrases is known as SEM.

SEM is an acronym of Search Engine Marketing.

Search Engine Marketing means not only to bring the Website in the Search result of the Search Engine but also to obtain a higher Page Ranking in the various Search Engine listing and to retain it.

The various steps that are involved in the SEM are:-

  1. Optimization of the Website which includes:
    1. Appropriate Meta Tags.
    2. Keyword Enriched Content.
    3. Increase in the quantity of Incoming Links.
  2. Increase in the quantity as well as quality of the External Link.
  3. Internet Marketing.

The SEM can be done in various types like some of the essential ones are:-

  1. Search Engine Optimization (SEO): It is the part of the Online Marketing that helps to bring the Website on the top ranking of the various Search Engine results by creating or modifying the Website Contents, Meta Tags and increasing the quantity of internal links and making it more Search Engine friendly.

  2. Link Popularity: It is the part of the Online Marketing that helps to increase the number of links of the Website whether they are:-

    1. Internal Links
    2. External Links

    Linking can be done in two ways:-

    1. One-way Linking / Submissions
    2. Two-way Linking / Reciprocal Linking
  3. Pay-Per-Click: It is the part of the Online Marketing in which you have to bid a certain amount for the phrases in which you want your site to appear in the Search results of the various Search Engines. In this process the advertisement of your site will be shown on the Search Engine result page and when ever a user is going to click on the ad of your site certain amount will be deducted from your account.

  4. E-Mail Marketing: It is the part of the Online Marketing which helps to convert a probable user into a potential client by making him / her aware of the products / services that are being offered by the company via E-mail.

Search Engine Marketing should be done keeping in mind the view point of the User as well as of the various Search Engines since only these two are responsible for the increase in the traffic and the sales of the Website.

The Website designer watch out the needs of the User by making the Website more well turned-out and user-friendly whereas the Search Engine Marketing Consultant look after the Search Engines by Optimizing the site according to the various Search Engines rules.

Now days the people are using various ways to obtain high ranking in the various Search Engine Listing one of these ways are “Spamming“ or “Cloaking” which means for the scrolling of the Search Engine you are submitting one page and showing a completely different page to the user.
