Yahoo Search vs. Google and Technorati: Link Counts and Analysis

By : Nidhi Gupta

An analysis done on Yahoo, Google and Technorati gave the following conclusions:

  • Yahoo! generally does a better job at indexing the blogosphere than Google does. We know they have been working hard to improve their index and here’s proof that they are getting results.

  • Even if Google is the one with the motto about not doing evil, Yahoo! seems to be the one interested in giving equal opportunity to the little guy: smaller blogs seem to have a better chance of being recognized by Yahoo! than they do of being recognized by Google.

  • While the front page of Google advertises they are currently indexing over 8 billion pages, it is very difficult to find ways to support that claim via the link feature they are offering: this can be seen as confirmation that Google does not tell you about all the links it has in its index.

  • Sure volume counts but in the case of search indexes, they may count against sites: if one is less likely to appear in Google than it is to appear in Yahoo! and the Google index is much larger than the Yahoo! one, then, if Yahoo! and Google had the same amount of traffic, a single blog could find itself receiving more traffic from Yahoo! than it does from Google. This would be due to the fact that each individual page in Yahoo! has more weight than it does in Google.

  • The top 100 blogs have other 56 million links in the Yahoo!. That’s a lot of links and clearly shows that links are the currency of the blogging world. It would be interested to get data that would help analyze how much interlinking exists across those sites.

Unleash the Power of Copywriting to Increase the Conversion Rate

By : Admin

Having attention grabbing copywriting in your online marketing campaign is the key to success. But what copywriting is all about? Copywriting is the art of writing sales and marketing related materials. Copywriting is used in every major area of business such as Sales Letters, Business plans, advertising etc. There are many techniques you can employ to ensure that your sales page will be able to persuade people to buy your products or services. Some of them are mentioned below:

  • Make Use of Testimonials (these are the words from other people recommending the usage of your products or services). Testimonials have an aura of objectivity, and more often than not, they are enough to convince many of your readers into patronizing what you have to offer.

  • Put emphasis on the benefits and convince your target market that your product or service is what they’re looking for by establishing a need they can relate to, and providing the solution through the benefits that your product or service can provide.

  • Build up excitement, enthusiasm, passion and urgency to get the reader to take the desired action right now because excitement is contagious and it sells!

  • Make the website easy to scan (interactive) with headlines, sub headlines, boxes, sections, colors etc. that give the reader the main benefits he will get.

  • Make a great offer to get the prospect’s email address. Consider offering special reports, bonuses and other similar items in addition to the newsletter to get the maximum number of qualified signups.

  • Make the website as easy to use and find things as possible.

  • Test everything, and always keep testing. This is the key to optimizing the website and all your marketing.

Writing marketing copy can be easy. You have to believe in your product. Don’t let limitations or negative thinking complicate the process. Be truthful in your marketing copy. You need to be able to explain why Internet visitors should know more about your product. Make efforts to entice visitors with an attention grabbing headline. Let the customer read about your product. Then after that you can sell your product or service.

Sales pages are, ultimately, about how well they’ll be able to convert. And a profitable conversion rate can be attained by utilizing the best techniques but do not forget to determine through continuous testing how efficiently each component of your sales page is performing.
