eBay’s PayPal: What The Online Payment Giant Is Upto These Days!

PayPal was acquired by eBay Inc. in October, 2002. Since then it is eBay’s PayPal. Let us have a look to what the online payment giant is upto these days? What new is announced and happened? eBay’s PayPal Raises Rates for Payment-Processing Services:

Users of PayPal’s Website Payments Pro and Virtual Terminal received an email informing them that fees were increasing effective September 1, 2007. There’s been no announcement on the PayPal or eBay Website. The mail described that Website Payments Pro and Virtual Terminal will increase from $20 to $30 per month. Transaction prices will remain at $0.30 per captured transaction, but a $0.30 fee will now also be assessed on all successful authorizations that have not been captured within 29 days. In addition, Virtual Terminal transactions will cost between 2.4% and 3.1% depending on processing volume. Currently, those fees are set at 2.2% - 2.9%. However, PayPal does not charge statement fees and gateway fees though a few of the users are claiming it to be a greedy step of PayPal.

eBay’s PayPal Service to Roll out ‘Advanced Risk Predictors’:

In October, PayPal will test a Web Service that utilizes advanced risk predictors, giving merchants more information and control over whether to accept payments, while maintaining buyer privacy. The Web Service will fully rollout in 2008. Because fraud has slowed the growth of ecommerce, so PayPal wants to help merchants make more informed decisions about transaction payments.

eBay’s Skype Introduces PayPal-Enabled ‘Send Money’ Feature:

eBay-owned company would introduce payment functionality to the VoIP service. The company announced the availability of Skype 3.2 Beta for Windows that has that capability, called Send Money. It allows users to send money to other Skype users via PayPal, which is also owned by eBay. The new version of Skype also allows users to import their contacts from web-based email applications, such as MSN Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo Mail. Moreover, Skype’s video-calling feature allows users to instantly capture photos of themselves.

eBay’s PayPal Battles Google Checkout with Help of Yahoo:

Yahoo and eBay’s PayPal subsidiary launched a new online payment program called Yahoo! PayPal Checkout, similar to Google Checkout. The paid-search ads of participating merchants will appear on Yahoo search results with an icon indicating the merchant accepts the checkout program, provided by PayPal through its PayPal Express Checkout service.

Yahoo claims the new program gives merchants that accept PayPal Express Checkout special recognition in Yahoo Sponsored Search results. The new program gives merchants free PayPal Express Checkout processing through the end of 2007.

Keep in mind, though, you may also have fewer buyers for your products and may have a lower selling price. You will need to determine which is the most efficient way to sell your items.
