Google’s Street View

By : Admin

Although it is a kind of latest news for most of us, however, by this time we all know that Google has added a feature called “Street View” in certain locations on its Google Maps which displays an interactive panorama photo for certain locations on Google Maps.

As of now, it is Launched with five major cities, which includes, Denver, Las Vegas, Miami, New York and the San Francisco Bay Area. Street View joins satellite and traffic maps as new ways to view geography. Street View is getting all kinds of press attention these days!

Google’s street view feature for Google Maps enables users to see certain parts of several big US cities through panoramic images and it has caused a new trend in the citizens and that new “trend” is: Street Spotting.

It entails a long list of reports about funny, weird or even sexy things that have been spotted on Street View. You’ll see sunbathing people, people peeping into others home, police investigations in process as well as random other photo oddities.

It touts the benefits of easily finding places and understanding neighborhoods. Street View is the answer to every Peeping Tom’s dream!

You’ve been wondering about the vehicles they’re using to create those voyeuristic, 360-degrees, street-level images while driving down the street! But it seems that they are using an 11 lens camera called Dodeca2360 which is capable of capturing immensely large area with a very high resolution. The images, thus captured are also modified or redone every year.

Let us now have a look as to what we can do with this very new feature of Google! It can be used to:

  • View street level photographs, however it is limited to selected cities, as of now, but Google is planning to expand the service to other U.S. cities and other countries.

  • Take virtual walks; pan, rotate and zoom.

  • Explore cityscapes, landmarks, and other points of interest.

  • Find shops, restaurants, parks, hotels, parlors, malls, pubs, schools and much more!

People calling it “candid camera” because it lets you to do all that you probably might have only thought of. It can let you to peep into others lives which may be sometimes embarrassing or compromising! But no doubt, this kind of technology has made world a transparent and more accessible place!

Street view pictures are clearer with high resolution which makes street views more realistic and genuine! However, these photographs are not real-time captures.

The easy availability and potential misuse of the photos is raising privacy concerns from several corners. Because Google has shown a willingness to accommodate user concerns over privacy and security with better, user-controlled options in the past, that’s why, Google is also offering an option of requesting removal of any image which is objectionable.

Street View is designed to help users find, discover and plan activities. It helps you to virtually be there and allows you a 360-degree view of wherever you may be standing! It’s a kind of technological boon and it deserves to be used to the best fit!

PayPal- E-commerce Solution

By : Nidhi Gupta

PayPal has been around a while, at least in Internet years. It is a payment gateway that is best known for its ability to help people transfer money when they use auction sites like Ebay. But now PayPal can offer web site owners and developers more options in e-commerce than they may realize.

There are a variety of payment options within the PayPal web site. You can stick with their basic payment system where you sign up for an account and you can immediately transfer cash to anyone with an e-mail address. This is a great way to pay for stuff when you win or sell on an auction site, but what if you need a real e-commerce solution for your web site? PayPal now offers three levels to help you:-

  • They have Web Site Payments Pro where customers can pay for things on your site or the PayPal site.

  • The second offering is E-mail Payments where customers get an e-mail and can then pay their bill on the PayPal web site.

  • The third option is what’s called a Traditional Merchant Account. This is a full blown e-commerce solution where you can process credit cards on your site, and you have a great deal more control over many aspects of the shopping cart and the payment processing. This final option will cost you the most to implement and run.

Overall, PayPal is a solid option if you want to dip your toes in the e-commerce pool. But keep in mind that when people have to leave your site to go to the PayPal site to make a payment, it doesn’t project as professional an appearance as if you were able to process their credit cards on your own site directly. That is where you need a merchant account (or a software package that enables you to access a merchant account). Many web hosting accounts will also provide some built in e-commerce solutions that can be tied into your hosting account directly. These can be a safe bet, since your hosting company is already set up to use them. So the moral is, if you need basic payment abilities, look at PayPal. If you need something more full featured, you have a variety of options. But the best place to look first are those solutions tied to your existing hosting account. If you don’t have a hosting account yet, do a Google search on “e-commerce solutions” and start digging. There is a great deal of options out there, so tread carefully and do your research.
