Negative Keywords and Positive Result !!
By : Admin
Using negative keywords could yield a positive result! Sounds unbelievable? Believe it because using keywords in your online campaigns allows you to filter the unwanted and irrelevant hits and hence, traffic! It is the opposite of using a regular search keyword. Generic keywords attract a lot of non-targeted traffic that may click on your link out of curiosity. This will drive up the cost without necessarily producing new business. Not using negative keywords can mean that your ad rarely reaches users who will want your business or service.
They are the powerful tools that are usually overlooked. We hardly recognize their importance! Using negative keywords can:
- Control the clicks that you might receive on your website.
- Significantly reduce advertising costs.
- Allow you to focus your on your goal.
- Permit advertisers to specify when ads should not be shown.
- Prevent an ad from displaying whenever someone uses that particular word.
- Ensure relevant clicks for your business or service.
- Help target keyword ads to likely customers.
- Helps in gaining higher ad placement.
- Greatly improve campaign cost effectiveness and ROI- returns on investment.
- Overall CTR of your ad (click through rate) will be much higher because there will now be a smaller number of Internet users be viewing your ad but not clicking.
However, I would like to mention here that Negative keywords should be used where there is the possibility of a double meaning. Negative keywords cause an ad to not be shown if any of those keywords are in the search phrase.
You can related our positive (should be used keywords) keywords with the negative keyword! For example, when we make a search for the word ‘cookie’ we often come up with the words like ‘internet’ and ‘web’ as search results. Now, by adding these words as negative keywords for your campaigns, you can prevent the occurrence of the pages with the keywords as ‘web’ or ‘internet’ and our search query now, may end up with ‘cookie’ as a result! Negative keywords eliminate the chances that your ads might show up for a keyword that you don’t offer.
The list of negative keywords for an ad group should evolve. The web logs for your web server are an ideal source for discovering new negative keywords. Gradually build up your list of negative keywords to avoid receiving traffic that will not convert to sales.
It is important to remember that over-using negative keywords can result in a very limited advertising audience. Consider all your potential keywords carefully, including negative keywords. It is always advisable not to over-do your negative keyword list! The idea behind using negative keywords is to prevent ads from showing when someone searches for unrelated products or services that use similar words. To conclude, a careful planning and usage of the negative keywords will help you gain greater results! But yes, do not forget to make use of proper and positive keywords!
