Yahoo Acquiring Right Media, Ad Company to Compete With Google

By: Admin

Yahoo, announced that it is going to acquire a privately owned Ad Company called Right Media by spending $680 million dollars more! (it has already paid a sum of $45 million for 20% stake!).

The acquisition of Right Media will build upon Yahoo!’s leadership in online advertising and is a key step towards executing the Company’s long-term strategy to transform how online advertisers connect to and engage with their customers - both on and off the Yahoo! network.

Recently, Google, one of the biggest competitor of Yahoo!, acquired Double click, an advertising company for $3.1 billion and yahoo’s move of acquisition could be called the right move aimed at bolstering its ad operations to compete with Google advertising campaign.

“The acquisition of Right Media will further Yahoo!’s goal to create the industry’s most open, accessible and vibrant advertising marketplace, which will help democratize the buying and selling of digitally enabled advertising,” said Terry Semel, chairman and CEO of Yahoo! in the official press release.

However, does this acquisition really going to help Yahoo (one of the most trafficked Internet destinations worldwide)… we all have to see in the future!
