MySpace News Launching

By: Deepti Jain

MySpace News has been launched, at news.myspace.com. The system is built using Newroo technology, a firm Fox Interactive acquired last year.

Arrington of TechCrunch has previewed the MySpace News platform and provided some snapshots. The highlights are:

  • Like Google news, MySpace news will pull news items from a number of trusted sources via their RSS feeds.
  • The news items will be organized into 25 main categories and 300 sub-categories including sports, politics etc.
  • The order of the news items will be determined by user voting and freshness.
  • Users can vote on each item of news with a ranking of 1-5.
  • Higher ranked and higher voted items will appear at the top of each category.

MySpace News are also looking for news sources to include in their index. You can list Your Site or blog in MySpace News through their Feed Submit form.
