Have you ever translated a website into another language only to find the result even more confusing? Well, there is a new feature in Google Translate that lets users suggest an alternative for incorrectly translated phrases — likely adding "expert" knowledge to Google’s statistical translation model in hopes of making their service better.
The new feature only appears to work with languages labeled as "BETA" on the translation tools page — these languages include Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Russian.

In a recent bevy of application disclosures, it was discovered that in September of last year, Microsoft applied for a patent regarding methodology for notifying Internet users whether or not a particular URL is associated with a list of known phishing sites.
We’ve all gotten the e-mails before. In what appears to be correspondence from a legitimate company, a letter comes across our respective e-mail client urging us to “verify our account information” by giving up the skinny on our bank accounts, credit cards, and social security numbers.
These attempts at obtaining sensitive personal information are commonly referred to as “phishing” tactics, and are often immediately identified by shady URLs or grammar so terrible that even Lindsay Lohan would end up confused – and that’s no small feat in and of itself.

Microsoft is working on the Smart Blogroll, a way for bloggers and blog readers to learn more about the information and topics discussed on blogs.
According to a paper by Eric Baumer defines the Smarter Blogroll:
"Our approach was to scrape the RSS feeds for all the blogs on a user’s blogroll, run a simple topic extraction algorithm over the content, and present the user with the Smarter Blogroll, wherein blog names are annotated by a list of up to the five most salient recent topics.
By clicking on any of these topics, the list expands to show the titles of recent posts about that topic, the titles themselves being permalinks directly to the post.
Thus, it becomes possible for the user of the blogroll to quickly scan through the list and get a general gist of what his or her blogs are talking about.
Similarly, it enables a new visitor to a blog to get a general impression about the interests of the creator(s) of the blog, as well as quickly navigate through the blogroll to find posts about topics of interest."
