Melodis, a company based in Silicon Valley, launched its new music search website Midomi in beta version on Friday. The site allows visitors to hum, sing, or even whistle their favorite tune, and the engine recognizes and searches for the song title. The website is said to identify the song for the user in as little as 10 seconds.
Users can contribute to the database by singing in midomi’s online recording studio in any language or genre. The next time anyone searches for that song, your performance might be the top result!
Users can create their own profile and contribute to the database by singing in Midomi’s online recording studio in any language or genre. Users can share their profiles with friends and get discovered by other midomi users.
Midomi features an extensive digital music store with a growing collection of more than two million legal music tracks. You can listen to samples of original recordings, buy the full studio versions directly from midomi, and play them on your Windows computer or compatible music players.

Studies have shown that search engines and links are the most effective way to reach web users. While other successful internet marketing tactics include word of mouth and traditional direct mail advertising.
Search engine marketing is tiered, meaning one may promote a website on the search engines at various levels of visibility. Each level offers a distinctly different service than the next. At the most basic level of marketing is search engine listing which is simply registration in any given search database. This doesn’t guarantee or solidify ranking in the top results, but does obtain consideration. The next level is called search engine optimization, or improving a website’s ability to gain top rankings in SERP’s.

There have been reports around the Internet today about Yahoo Search Marketing canceling the Overture Keyword Selector Tool, which has been a staple of Keyword planning and search marketing for almost a decade.
Feeling that part of the search marketing world, and the tools dependent upon it, had been buried; I addressed concerns with the Yahoo Search Marketing Team & John Slade, Sr. Director, Global Product Management with Yahoo Search Marketing and found out that such is not the case.
John’s response:
First, I’d like to clarify that Yahoo! Search Marketing’s public keyword research tool (formerly known as the Overture’s Keyword Selector Tool- KST) continues to exist today and will continue to exist until we replace it with an improved product. Unfortunately, the responsiveness of this free tool is diminished due to the sheer volume of hits it receives each day, therefore browsers may time out and error pages may appear but it doesn’t mean that this tool has been removed.
