Google Radio Advertising is close to being a reality as Reuters reports that the search engine & advertising company is planning on beginning a massive radio test of its AdWords Radio, which became a reality after Google’s acquisition of dMarc Broadcasting.
Google Audio Ads will be able to be purchased via the Google AdWords interface and targeting will be pinpointed to geographic locations and listener demographics.
Google spokesman Michael Mayzel said this week that the company will begin a public test of Google Audio Ads by the end of the year. Advertisers will be able to go online and sign up for targeted radio ads using the same AdWords system they use to buy Web search ads.
There are rumors that Google is looking to acquire a stake in Clear Channel, which controls 20% of the local radio airwave revenues and is also a powerful outdoor billboard advertising broker.
Recently, Google AdWords has made commitments or initial groundbreaking of a mix of media outlets for new Google Advertising opportunities including TV & Video as well as Newspapers.

Subscribers to Verizon wireless services will soon be able to carry YouTube with them thanks to a deal to bring the popular website together with V Cast.
Verizon Communications Inc., the second largest U.S. telecommunications company, is in advanced talks with YouTube Inc. to bring the Web site’s videos to cellphones and television sets, the Wall Street Journal reported. In an attempt to compete with cable companies, the marketing department at Verizon is in currently in negotiations to carry YouTube exclusively on their premium V Cast service. With that in mind Verizon is planning to launch a cable service, which will feature YouTube as an OnDemand service alongside YouTube videos on V Cast.
Under the deal Verizon’s customers would be able to view some YouTube videos on their cellphones through the carrier’s premium V Cast service. Verizon also would offer YouTube videos as an on-demand feature of a TV service it is launching throughout the nation, according to the paper.

Yahoo Inc. is expanding a test of its mobile telephone advertising network to include more visually appealing messages.Yahoo Inc. this week will start testing graphical ads on mobile phones in the United States.
Consumers can click on ads to learn more details about an advertiser’s offer or to call the advertiser.
Yahoo’s Mobile Web service is available on most phones offered by major wireless operators in the United States. It gives consumers access to a basic Yahoo services, including search, e-mail, news, stock quotes and sports.
JupiterResearch estimates that 10 percent of U.S. mobile users browse the Internet on their phones. But only 2-3 percent check the Web on their phones at least five times a week.
Yahoo is growing its mobile advertising base by beginning to deliver graphical ads to wireless users who view Yahoo properties via mobile phones.
Yahoo will be testing ’slimmed-down’ banner ads and other display ads on Yahoo Mobile Web, where it has also tested Yahoo Search Marketing ads.
