One-way link building is a great way to improve your link popularity and ranking in the search engines. One-way links are more difficult to obtain than traditional reciprocal links, but pay off in securing solid long-term search engine ranking results.
Why are one-way links helpful?
Link building in general is an important part of making sure your site ranks well in the search engines. Google and many of the other search engines include link popularity as part of the way they evaluate the webpages they include in the search engine databases. Links are seen as a positive "vote" towards the quality of the webpage. Each individual page acquires link popularity based on the pages that link to it. Google and Yahoo! both have toolbars showing the page rank of pages you visit, so you can use these tools to get a good estimate of your pages’ link popularity. It is not necessary to get totally caught up in the minutia of which types of links from which types of pages are the most important. The bottom line is this: acquiring links pointing back to your website, particularly links from sites covering the same or related topics as your site, is helpful in the overall scheme of search engine ranking.

It didn’t take very long for Google to regain a 60 percent market share of US searches, as they reached 60.29 in the four weeks ending September 9th.
August’s dip, if it can be called that, has been righted. Online analysis firm Hitwise cited their research in noting Google had not only maintained the top spot, but nudged back to over 60 percent.
Here is how the numbers looked for the four-week period of US search volume most recently measured by Hitwise:
| Search Engine Domain |
SearchVolume
|
60.29% |
| search.yahoo.com |
22.58% |
| search.msn.com |
11.56% |
3.63& |

In the four-week period ending August 26th, Google’s search share had dipped to (wait for it) 59.99 percent in the US market. It didn’t hurt their investors’ confidence, as shares of Google closed at 373.26 on August 25th and 380.95 on August 28th.
By the Hitwise numbers, Yahoo and MSN both dipped slightly in the September 9th numbers, while Ask gained a little bit between August 26th and September 9th.

If not, you could be in for a surprise when Google starts disabling developer tokens on October 1st as the new changes for the AdWords API token take effect.
Rohit Dhawan of Google reminded users of the AdWords API that September 15th is the deadline for registering Developer Tokens and information. Those who did not complete the registration by today may find that token unavailable when October begins.
Clients who have completed the registration process will see something new in the AdWords API Center page. The new Application Token appearing there.
Request Header Changes
The introduction of the new Application Token requires developers to change two elements (developerToken and applicationToken) in their request headers by October 1. These changes should be made as soon as possible. Prior to October 1, the API will accept unapproved Application Tokens (so you can add them in now), but starting October 1 the system will only allow requests made with approved Application Tokens. You will be notified of token approvals via your AdWords API Center.
