“Python is a great language for exploring web services, thanks to its handy interactive prompt and extensive range of built-in libraries. If you’re new to Python, we have collected some useful links to get you started. If you’re already comfortable with the language you can dive straight in to the HOWTOs which discuss techniques for accessing the YDN APIs.”

Python is a dynamic object-oriented programming language used for software development. It offers strong support for integration with other languages and tools, comes with extensive standard libraries, and can be learned in a few days.

Visit the Python Developer Center and find information about using Python with Yahoo! Web Services APIs.

Mobile Shopping Search - The Next Trend?

By: Danny Wirken | Source: searchnewz.com

Search engines have revolutionized the way people look for information. A huge success on the Internet, search has made people dependent on it that people use search engines to do everything from research to shopping. Shoppers find great deals and stores just by searching for products they are interested in.

However, most shoppers find it taxing and irritating to have to enter their personal information for every store they find through search where they want to buy something from.

Google’s new service, Google Checkout, has made shopping more convenient. It furthers the integration between search and shopping by allowing shoppers to buy from different stores using a single Google log in. This means that shoppers do not have to enter their information multiple times just to buy several items from different stores but can opt to "checkout" items they find through Google search. With the checkout system online shoppers will be encouraged to shop even more due to less hassle and the security that Google checkout brings.

Companies in the Forefront of Mobile Shopping

Many companies understood the customers need for mobile shopping and has been and are answering these needs. Some of these companies are:

Yahoo! - Yahoo launched its beta version of Mobile Shopping last September 2005. Mobile Shopping is just the mobile version of their Yahoo Shopping and enables mobile users to comparison shop for free. However, they still haven’t found means to let customers actually buy products from their phones. The mobile version of Yahoo Shopping only allows customers to compare product prices and access product information through their phones.

Google - Google SMS is a service that allows user to do more than just search and shop. Mobile phone users can get phone book listings, movie showtimes, weather, facts, dictionary definitions, product prices from Froogle, and more using Google SMS. Like Mobile Shopping of Yahoo Google SMS doesn’t allow purchases to be made just yet but offer comparison sh!
opping only.

Google Analytics Offering Instant Access

Source: searchenginejournal.com

No more waiting list, no more invitations, Google finally has its freely available Analytics service open for site publishers to try. Part of the desire to try will depend on how far a given site publisher trusts Google.

Google has opened up its Google Analytics registrtion program to allow instant access to new users. By taking away that waiting period, perhaps Google Analytics will discover a new, less patient group of web publishers.

More from Brett Crosby, Sr. Manager, Google Analytics, on the Google Analytics Blog:

I’m happy to tell you that we’ve just removed the wait to receive a Google Analytics account. Now anyone with a website can instantly create one for free by simply by visiting google.com/analytics or by clicking on the “Analytics” tab within AdWords. After you create an account, we suggest reading the Installation Guide to get it set up quickly and correctly.

When we founded Urchin we actually had an ad-based business model where we were able to give the product away for free. It didn’t last and we eventually went with a paid model. But when our company was acquired in April 2005 we worked with Google to determine a way to give it away for free again, this time with no ads. By doing this, we’re able to give all websites — large and small — the tools you need to better serve your customers, make more money, and improve the web experience for everyone.
