Direct mail marketing requires you to pay for paper, printing, and postage upfront. It costs on average between $750 and $1000 per every 1000 flyers you send out. The response rate is about 1-2%, which means that of those 1000 flyers mailed out, about 980-990 of them will end up in the garbage. Obviously, this is not very effective, as you can see. Telemarketing needs almost no discussion. In the past year, the President has passed a new law called the DO NOT Call Law, because an outpouring of consumer complaints against telemarketing companies prompted this action. Finally, direct email marketing has shown the most promising results. For every 1000 emails you send out to consumers who have previously shown an interest in hearing from companies like yours, you can expect between a 10-15% response rates. In addition, the cost for this type of campaign runs on average between $100-$350, and it can be implemented from start to finish within three days.

RSS is the latest craze in online publishing. But what exactly is RSS?
RSS or Rich Site Syndication is a file format similar to XML, and is used by publishers to make their content available to others in a format that can be universally understood. RSS allows publishers to "syndicate" their content through the distribution of lists of hyperlinks.
It has actually been around for a while, but with the advent of spam filters and online blogging, it is fast becoming the choice of ezine publishers who want to get their message across to their subscribers. However, not much attention has been given to the advantages RSS provides for search engine optimization.
